Ilene Silverman is a successful business woman and a tireless community volunteer with years of exemplary service. She is the owner / president of Ilene's For Fashion, a ladies apparel store, now in its 22nd successful year, specializing in women's apparel and designer Gator wear.
She has recently launched her new gator attire website business, www.ilenesgatorstore.com. A Gainesville native, Ilene has become a household name in the greater Gainesville / Alachua County region due to her involvement with Public Television's WUFT and her producing and hosting of The Ilene Silverman Show on CBS4 and other broadcast outlets. Ilene hosts the weekly feature Around Town that airs every Friday on GTN News. She serves as Vice President of Budd Broadcasting Co. the business she shares with her husband Harvey Budd.
Ilene has spent countless hours with many charities and civic organizations, often serving on their boards. These groups include The Florida Museum of Natural History, CDS Family & Behavioral Health Services Inc., the Early Learning Coalition of Alachua County, the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk, Public television WUFT Board of Trustees, Children's Miracle Network, The American Cancer Society, Dance Alive National Ballet and many more.
She is a member of the Advisory Board for the Santa Fe College Kika Silva Pla Planetarium and the University of Florida Foundation. Ms. Silverman has been the recipient of various awards and recognition such as the Volunteer of the Year Award for WUFT-TV, the Gainesville Area Women's Network 1st Woman of Honor and in 2004 the Santa Fe College Woman of Distinction Award.
In 2006 The Florida Commission on the Status of Women honored Ms. Silverman with a Florida Achievement Award. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Advertising from the University of Georgia Grady College of Journalism.
