Blogger and award-winning journalist Erica Rodriguez produces a special feature for GTN News called $uper $teals, in which she shares secrets to smart shopping and saving money with viewers.
Erica started her blog SuperStealsBlog.com, after discovering she could save tons of money using coupons and use that savings to travel to places like Egypt, Paris and Greece on vacation.
A journalist at heart, Erica is Cuban American from Miami and graduated from Florida State University in 2005. She worked as news editor for the FSU student newspaper and later wrote for publications like The Miami Herald and The Bradenton Herald.
In 2006, she moved to Gainesville in pursuit of a master's degree in Telecommunication from the University of Florida. While in graduate school, Erica worked as a nightside assignment editor at WCJB TV20 in Gainesville -- and eventually worked for that station as a news reporter and Sunday anchor in the years following graduation.
By 2010, Erica landed a teaching job at UF, where she has taught courses in TV writing, on-air performance and investigative reporting. Now, she is also working on a PhD at UF. She enjoys giving back to the community and is currently a media member on the Local Emergency Planning Committee.
Erica has won several awards for her work as a journalist, including awards from the Florida Associated Press Broadcasters, the Society of Professional Journalists and the Florida Emergency Preparedness Association.
Erica is married to fellow UF and FSU alum Steven Kight. They live in Ocala with their two rescue dogs Mili and Max.
